What is Intellipop with UTOPIA Fiber?
UTOPIA Fiber is a community-owned fiber-optic network that delivers internet directly to your home over a dedicated fiber line. Unlike cable or wireless, UTOPIA operates on an open access model, meaning the network infrastructure is owned by the community and service is delivered by local providers like Intellipop. This keeps prices fair, service quality high, and gives you the freedom to choose. Your $30/mo UTOPIA infrastructure fee covers the fiber line to your home, and your Intellipop plan covers your internet service and your customer experience.
West Point joined the UTOPIA network in 2020 and saw its entire citywide build completed in just 15 months, one of the fastest rollouts in UTOPIA's history. Every home in West Point now has access to dedicated fiber-to-the-home service.

How Does Installation Work?
UTOPIA Fiber handles the installation, and it's simpler than you'd expect. Your address determines whether your fiber line comes in overhead (from the power lines) or underground (through buried conduit). Either way, the result is the same: a dedicated fiber line running directly into your home.
1. Sign up and get scheduled
Pick your plan at signup.intellipop.com, and the UTOPIA Fiber team will reach out to schedule your install. Overhead connections can often be scheduled as soon as the next business day. Underground installs typically take about two weeks to complete.
2. Fiber gets pulled to your home
On install day, a UTOPIA technician runs a fiber line from the network into your house and installs a fiber modem. It's a small wall-mounted box that works like a modem for fiber. They'll place it near a power outlet, usually in a garage, utility room, or home office.
3. Plug in your router and go
Connect your wireless router to the fiber modem, and you're online. The technician runs a speed test before they leave to make sure everything is locked in at the speeds you're paying for. UTOPIA doesn't provide routers, but any modern Wi-Fi router rated for gigabit speeds will work.
