About the fiber network in Selma.
The fiber going in under these streets is an open-access network. That means one company builds and maintains the glass, and independent providers compete to sell you the internet service that runs over it. Built once, open to whoever earns your business. It is how some of the best-connected towns in the country get their internet.
The network is mStreet Alabama, a $230 million privately financed fiber build running more than 300 miles across west-central Alabama, with its headquarters on Church Street in Selma and a data center at Selma University. Crews have been putting glass in the ground here since March of 2024. mStreet Alabama builds and runs the network. It does not sell internet service directly.
Intellipop is the internet provider on it. We have been doing exactly this, service over open-access fiber, since 2014, and we are based in Utah, which we would rather say plainly than dress up. We run in six states now, and the way this works does not change from one town to the next. Same plans. Same support. Same number on the bill next year as this year.
None of that is something we came up with for Selma. It is just the only way we have ever done it.

Can I get it at my address?

What is an open-access network?
One fiber network, built and maintained by one company, open to independent providers who compete for your business on it. mStreet Alabama builds and runs the glass. Intellipop delivers your internet over it. You get local infrastructure and a provider that has to keep earning you. That is the whole point.
Is Yellowhammer the same as mStreet Alabama?
Yes. Yellowhammer Networks, LLC was renamed mStreet Alabama in June 2025, when its owner Meridiam rebranded the company. Same fiber, same crews, same network. So the build Selma has watched go in since 2024 is the same network you would be connecting to today, whichever name you heard first.
Who is the internet provider on mStreet Alabama?
Intellipop. mStreet Alabama builds and runs the network but does not sell internet service directly, so the plan, the bill and the support all come from us. 1 Gig is $54.95 a month, symmetrical, with no contract and a price locked for three years.
Is this real fiber?
Yes. Glass all the way to your house, with upload speeds that match your download speeds. Cable cannot say that.
Do I need a contract?
No. Nobody should. Stay because it works, not because a piece of paper says you have to.
Will my price go up?
Your price is locked for three years. Not a promo rate that resets, not a number that quietly climbs at month 13. Three years at the price you signed up at. If anything ever needs to change after that, you will hear it from us before it shows up on your bill.
What equipment do I need?
Your install includes the fiber modem. For WiFi, add Managed WiFi for $12.95/mo and we will send the right router for your plan and your house, or bring your own and we will help you pick one.
What if I am in an apartment, or I need service for my business?
Put in your address and tell us what you need. Not every building and not every business is something we can turn up on day one, but we would rather hear from you and get you to the right place than have you guess.

The local fiber team that built the network. They handle the line to your house. We handle everything after that, and everything to do with your account.
